Introducing Mainstream's NEC Candidates

We all know that we must organise for a democratic, participatory Labour Party to bring a popular, principled and practical left politics to life.‍ That's why, this year, Mainstream will campaign hard to build real power on Labour's National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Policy Forum (NPF).

Last week, our members' ballot on NEC candidates closed. We're thrilled to share that members endorsed the NEC candidates proposed by the Interim Council.

Today, we can therefore announce Mainstream's backing for a strong team of candidates determined to fight for a transformative Labour Party reconnected with its mainstream on the NEC.

The results of the ballot were as follows:

CLP section

Endorse Cat Arnold, Jovan Owusu-Nepaul and Kerry Postlewhite - 93%

Do not endorse Cat Arnold, Jovan Owusu-Nepaul and Kerry Postlewhite - 7%

Local Government section

Endorse Councillor Elizabeth Dennis - 92%

Do not endorse Councillor Elizabeth Dennis - 8%

Turnout for the CLP section vote was 61%, and 54% for the Councillors section.

Thank you to all of those who participated in the ballot.

We now need your help to get our brilliant candidates - Cat, Jovan, Kerry and Elizabeth - nominated in CLPs and Labour Groups around the country.
