Labour members have voted for a much more diverse, open and pluralistic NEC: one that isn’t dominated by any one faction or tradition.
We thank everyone who supported the Mainstream team in these elections. Kerry and Cat will honour the trust you have placed in them, and work to properly represent you and all Labour Party members. Our commiserations to Elizabeth and Jovan, a strong voice for local government and a trailblazing black socialist respectively, who would have been brilliant representatives on the NEC.
This is the beginning, not the end, of Mainstream’s work to transform the Labour Party so that we can transform the country. And this is a seismic win for an organisation founded less than one year ago. To have achieved this result is a testament to the determination of our members and allies at every level of the party - and a sign of the appetite for the new politics that Andy Burnham is leading. We will continue our work to build that.
